Dr. Samantha Dawson

Dr. Samantha Dawson (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Scholar, the Director of the Sexuality and Well-being (SWell) Lab, and a registered clinical psychologist. She is an award-winning researcher, publishing over 70 research articles. Her multi-method research program focuses on identifying factors contributing to sexual well-being in individuals and couples. Of particular interest is understanding sexuality during periods of vulnerability including pregnancy, the postpartum period, and perimenopause. Her research is generously funded by operating grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Women’s Health Research Institute, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, and the British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund, as well as the University of British Columbia.
